We are sharing two bat house plans we have developed at the Bat Center; both are modifications of designs that originated elsewhere. First is the traditional, flat-faced bat house. We made this one a bit longer than is typical so that it will hold more bats. All the instructions are in this pdf and the box will look like the one pictured below.
The other design we’ll share is a two-chambered rocket box. The rocket box is a more complicated design built around a square post. However, it holds more bats and it gives bats more options for solar exposure. As always, use untreated wood for the post and the pieces that wrap around it. You’ll find the design in the pdf below and a photo follows.
